Grief and mourning can make us feel frozen, out of sorts.

How each of us receives and gives support is so unique. Cliches, mass-produced sympathy cards, and flowers may provide temporary comfort, but they frequently leave us feeling that more could be offered. When we are the griever, we want to know there is a way forward, a way to integrate the loss into our new world. When we are the grief supporter, we want to know if our support is helpful.

Welcome to the Of Grace and Grief Space.

I’d like to open this welcome by sharing a line from the book Scarlett- the sequel to Gone With the Wind. Lean In, Read On:

‘If Ashley had pitched himself into the coffin, everybody would have called it touching. If he’d killed himself doing it, they’d have been real sorry, but there are rules for handling sorrow. Society needs rules, Scarlett, to hold itself together. What you did broke all the rules.’

Let’s break some rules.

Maybe finding your heart words or heart actions to help someone in your life who’s grieving is the path we’ll take.

Or, maybe you’ve experienced a loss that the world just doesn’t understand or really accept as a loss. The grief coaching path is a focus on the here and now, finding ways that work for YOU to integrate the loss into your world.
